Overview

Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University traces its history to 1906, when a medical school was established as part of the Moscow Higher Women's Courses. The institution played an important role in expanding access to higher medical education and later became one of Russia's prominent centers for medical education and biomedical research.

The university offers education across clinical medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, biomedical sciences, psychology and related healthcare disciplines. It has a strong connection between academic education, scientific research and clinical practice.

Pirogov University has 115 academic departments organized into 15 institutes and provides education through more than 250 courses. Its university structure includes clinical centers, research facilities, a library, sports facilities and student accommodation. The university has also educated international students since 1959 and offers English-language programs in selected fields.
