Overview

Tomsk Polytechnic University was founded in 1896 as the Tomsk Technological Institute and became the first engineering university in the Asian part of Russia. Over its long history, the university has developed into a major technical and research institution.

TPU has a strong specialization in engineering, energy, petroleum and oil and gas technologies, chemical technologies, nuclear technologies and related scientific fields. Its academic environment combines engineering education with research and industry collaboration.
